The Found Footage Festival, the acclaimed showcase of odd and hilarious found videos, will debut a special show, the Best of the Midwest, at the Music Box Theatre. Together with Krulik, Found Footage Festival will present the greatest public access television footage from over twenty years of collecting, some of it originating from the Maryland area.
Hosts Joe Pickett and Nick Prueher began collecting found videotapes in 1991 after stumbling across a training video entitled, "Inside and Outside Custodial Duties" in a McDonald's break room. Since then, Joe and Nick have compiled an impressive collection of strange, outrageous, and profoundly stupid videos on VHS.
Since the first tour in 2004, the Found Footage Festival has gone on to sell out hundreds of shows across the U.S., Canada, and the U.K. The festival has been featured on National Public Radio, Jimmy Kimmel Live, and G4 TV’s Attack Of The Show, and has been named a critic’s pick in dozens of publications, including The Village Voice, Los Angeles Times AVClub.com ("Skull-crushingly funny.") and The Chicago Tribune.
Opening the show will be comic Michael Lehrer, a Chicago based comedian, actor, writer, and improviser, who can currently be seen on The Second City e.t.c. stage’s 37th Revue, A Clown Car Named Desire. Previous Credits: iO Chicago, Chicago Underground Comedy, ESPN Radio, Just For Laughs Festival, The Andy Kaufman Awards (2010 Semi-Finalist), Sports Action Team, and BTN’s Big Ten Tailgate (Co-Host).
John us before and after the show for delicious and cheap Brooklyn beers at Cullen’s Bar & Grill next door.
The Mash is an interactive tour of our favorite food, music, comedy, literature and beer, visiting 11 cities from March-December in 2013.
