Erin Byers Murray, author, Shucked: Life on a New England Oyster Farm
Graham McKay, Lowell's Boat Shop
Introduction and raw bar from Island Creek's Chris Sherman
Togather and Brooklyn Brewery present Books & Beer, a lively conversation and Q&A featuring two enterprising individuals with ties to the water.
Erin Byers Murray is a journalist specializing in food and wine writing. Her new book is engrossing and very personal account of a young woman from Boston who ditches her pampered city girl lifestyle and convinces the rowdy crew at Island Creek Oysters in Duxbury, Massachusetts, to allow her to learn the business of oysters.
As Boat Shop Mgr of the oldest operating boat shop in the U.S.A., Mr. McKay has a unique perspective on water-based careers in New England. His engaging manner will open the floor to all sorts of discussion with Ms Murray.
Your ticket includes complimentary Brooklyn Brewery beer & Island Creek Oysters. A portion of all proceeds will benefit Slow Food Boston.
The Mash is an interactive tour of our favorite food, music, comedy, literature and beer, visiting 11 cities from March-December in 2013.
