Three Headed Beast
Sunday, October 11 at 3 PM
Blind Whino
700 Delaware Ave SW, Washington, DC 20024
Tickets $35, on sale now.
Three chefs, three beasts, one day of live music, food, and beer for a good a cause. Chef Russell Jones (Jack Rose Dining Saloon), Chef Kwame Onwuachi (Shaw Bijou), and Brooklyn Brewery Chef Andrew Gerson will set up to serve you, your friends and your family a whopping fall feast. Each chef will take their unique whole animal and prepare a nose-to-tail dish with a side to match.
You'll get a plate from each chef, and a Brooklyn beer to help take it all in. Don't worry about rationing, either: there'll be plenty of beer deals to take advantage of as you eat, listen to live music and enjoy Blind Whino's beautiful and bizarre art installations all afternoon long. Proceeds from the feast will go to The Food Trust to help others share the bounty.
Chef Russell Jones is deeply concerned with responsibly sourcing his food. So concerned, in fact, that he spent two years as a vegan until he could thoroughly vet his supply chains. Look to him for a fresh, seasonal dish honoring his chosen beast: Pig (smoked pork shoulder and tails with chow chow, pork rinds, and house baked Parker roll.)
Chef Kwame Onwuachi draws inspiration from growing up in the Bronx, surrounded by cultures that melded together in the smells of cooking coming from many windows. He was recently named one of DC's 30 Under 30 by Zagat. Today, Chef Kwame is preparing to open a restaurant in DC's buzzing Shaw neighborhood. He'll bring his cross-cultural spin to his chosen beast: Goat (curry braised goat with msemen bread, Kashmiri chili sauce, and anticucho yogurt.)
Chef Andrew Gerson is the Head of Culinary Programming at Brooklyn Brewery and a long-time advocate for the Slow Food movement, several food truck alliances, and genuine Italian cooking. He has been traveling the country with the Mash for three years, imbuing even more influences and styles to make his dishes veritable dynamos. Prepare for excellence from his chosen beast: Lamb (Szechuan pepper, ginger and star anise slow braised lamb, roasted delicata squash and romanesco, and butternut squash puree.)
We'll be pouring:
Brooklyn Lager
Oktoberfest
Defender IPA
Post Road Pumpkin Ale
East IPA
