Animation Block Party is a renowned animation festival that has been produced on the East Coast for twelve years. The vibrant shorts of the festival careen through the full spectrum of emotion, humor, suspense and outright strange, providing you with a memorable break from reality in a feature-length sitting. For the Boston Mash, we're bringing highlights from Animation Block Party to the Somerville Theater, screening celebrated shorts and features from the around the country.
We're bringing a couple of Boston-based exclusives for this screening. You'll be able to catch The Divide, from recent Rhode Island School of Design graduate Brent Sievers, winner of Best Animated Student Short at Animation Block Party 2014. We'll also be featuring work from local animation studio CloudKid, featuring their creative director Dave Schlafman; Gina Kamentsky, animator and kinetic sculptor; and animator Michael Ribeiro. Other hand-picked shorts and a Q&A with Animation Block Party Founder Casey Safron and revered Boston animators will join in to make this an evening that drastically outmatches your old Saturday morning routine.
