The Slow Food DC Snail of Approval Awards is Slow Food DC's biggest party of the year, and we couldn't be happier to be a part of it. Our Brewmaster Garrett Oliver was a founding member of Slow Food USA, and our House Chef Andrew Gerson was awarded a Snail of Approval in Philadelphia and received his Masters in Food Communication from the University of Gastronomic Sciencs in Pollenza, Italy. The goals of The Mash are right in line with the Snail of Approval Awards: to recognize & celebrate eateries and artisans who contribute good, clean, fair food to our community, and to spread awareness of the Slow Food philosophy.
In order to help guide DC patrons and visitors to food that is good, clean and fair, Slow Food DC will award the Snail of Approval to those artisans and eateries who contribute to the quality, authenticity and sustainability of the food we eat and the beverages we drink in the City of Washington, DC and surrounding areas.
Your ticket includes Brooklyn Brewery beer, cocktails & a menu of locally sourced food prepared by Chef Brian McPherson of Jackson 20.
The Mash is an interactive tour of our favorite food, music, comedy, literature and beer, visiting 11 cities from March-December in 2013.
