Brooklyn Ha Ha: NYC Stand-up with Josh Gondelman, Jesse Popp & Lee Terbosic
Brooklyn is quietly becoming the nation's capital of comedy. As Brooklyn-born Jimmy Fallon brings The Tonight Show back to its rightful coast we recognize that behind the scenes, many if not most of late night TV's writers, tomorrow's headlining stand-ups, and just about a million SNL-wannabe sketch group are living in Brooklyn.
But don't take our word for it. Look at what respected business newspaper The Wall Street Journal has to say: "The vibrant alt-comedy scene that used to be centered in the East Village a few years ago has now become scattered throughout Brooklyn."
See? Pretty impressive.
In true Brooklyn style, Brooklyn Ha Ha introduces some of NYC's best under-the-radar talent along with one of the local scene's up-and-comers. Again, pretty impressive.
Our Pittsburgh host, Lee Terbosic, has wowed countless celebrities, appeared on National TV and even taken the stage in front of 20,000 screaming people. Born and raised in Pittsburgh, PA, Lee has one of those jobs that lets him live out his dream each day and night by performing his brand of magic, comedy, sleight of hand and mind reading for audiences across the country.
Josh Gondelman is a writer and comedian who got his start in Boston before moving to New York City. With years of experience as a preschool teacher and polite manners, Josh charms audiences using his good-natured storytelling and cracks them up with his sharp, pointy wit.
In 2010, Josh traveled to Atlanta for the inaugural Laughing Skull Comedy Festival, where he turned heads and captured first prize! Since then he has become an in-demand performer on a national scale. He has performed at the Rooftop Comedy Festival in Aspen, CO, and headlined at the Laugh Your Asheville Off Festival in Asheville, NC. More recently he has appeared in the Eugene Mirman Comedy Festival, the Bridgetown Comedy Festival, and SF Sketchfest. Josh's debut standup comedy CD, “Everything’s The Best” was released in November of 2011 by Rooftop Comedy Productions.
“Did I say clever? Josh Gondelman is that. Whether cracking on his Jewish background or relationships, he plucked witty surprises from his personal experiences that impressed me.” - America’s Comedy
Jesse Popp moved to New York in 2006 to become on of the most highly regarded comics on the New York comedy circuit. He was co-producer and host of the weekly Comedy Show at Beauty Bar for five years and headlined around the county. Jesse has performed on Comedy Central’s Premium Blend and TBS’ Conan, where he was previously a writer. Jesse’s episode of Comedy Central’s The Half Hour premiered in June 2012. His album You Stink is currently available through Comedy Central Records and on iTunes.
"[Jesse] Popp’s absurd and self-deprecating style includes takes on everything from the mundane to the bizarre, such as his impression of a guy who doesn’t understand the rules of Scrabble, and how farm work is different from office work." - The Rock Father
