Stoddard's Food & Ale
48 Temple Pl, Boston, MA
To get The Mash started in Boston we're setting up shop at one of our favorite Downtown Crossing spots. Tues - Fri enjoy 3 different Brooklyn drafts and at least 1 cask ale. Beyond that, check out our beer programming at Stoddard's each night during Happy Hour:
Brooklyn Cask-Off, 5 - 7pm
Boasting 5 top-notch beer engines, Stoddard's will allow us to take over at least 2 of them, perhaps, 3. As probably the largest producer of cask beer in the United States, we're eager to show off what we can do at room temperature. Followed by...
Lovin' Spoonfuls Social Beer Dinner, 7 -10pm
In a twist on the usual beer dinner, this one will be cocktail party style and benefits food charity Lovin' Spoonfuls. Brooklyn's Patrick Paulick will lead this run through passed courses and beautiful beers. Call (617) 426-0048 for reservations as this is a Friday Room event. They will go fast. Check here for menu. $55 per person.
Brooklyn Ghost Bottle Night, 5 - 7pm
Garrett & the boys are always up to something down in the brewhouse. Oftentimes, they're bottling small batch, not-for-public specialties. From bourbon barrels to Brett, these "Ghost Bottles" always have a tasty twist that makes them hard to forget (not to mention hard to get). Because they number in such small quantity, we don't sell Ghost Bottles to the public. Show up on this night, however, and Patrick will lead you through tastings of some of our favorites. Show up early and thirsty.
Brooklyn Silver Anniversary Parallel Tasting, 5 - 7pm
Help us celebrate our 25th year on God's green earth with a side-by-side tasting of Silver Anniversary Lager in draft and 100% re-fermented in beautiful art-adorned 750ml bottles. Because we're in a festive mood, we'll raffle off a signed copy of Brewmaster Garrett Oliver's Oxford Companion To Beer & a Steve Hindy edition homebrew kit.
Big Cheese vs Big Cheese, 7 - 10pm
The head cheese mongers from both Formaggio locations will face off in a battle for your taste buds. Tripp Nichols represents Cambridge and David Robinson (not that David Robinson) fights for Formaggio South End. Brooklyn House Chef Andrew Gerson will present 5 beers and the two cheese heads will present their preferred cheeses. You eat. You drink. You judge. You win, no matter what. $55 per person.
The Mash is an interactive tour of our favorite food, music, comedy, literature and beer, visiting 11 cities from March-December in 2013.
